What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a cloud-based subscription service that brings together the best tools for the way people work today. By combining best-in-class apps like Excel and Outlook with powerful cloud services like OneDrive and Microsoft Teams, Office 365 lets anyone create and share anywhere on any device.
How Can Office 365 help my business?
As a small business, you need affordable and professional tools to stand out from your competition. Does Office 365 save my business money?
Yes! Office 365 subscriptions provide an affordable core of cloud-based tools, hosted and maintained by Microsoft. Plus, you don’t have to invest in additional physical servers, storage devices, security software, or IT staff.
If we move to the Cloud, does Microsoft have access to my company files and email communications?
The Microsoft Cloud is one built on trust, and Microsoft is a very well-respected steward for online data privacy. Unlike other cloud services, Microsoft will never use customer data to derive marketing or advertising opportunities. Can we use Office 365 if our business internet is slow?
Yes! Performance may vary, but Prophet Business Group can help evaluate your network and adjust Office 365 traffic to reduce latency. In most cases, if you are already receiving email to an on-premise e-mail server at your company, Office 365 will not cause bandwidth constraints. Downloading large Office applications and updates/patches can also be centrally managed as to conserve bandwidth.
What does it mean to “migrate” to Office 365?
Migrating to Office 365 typically includes the efforts of bringing legacy/on-premise data onto cloud services. This can include user information and directories, email data, and shared files and folders. Click here for more information on the migration services we offer. Depending on the amount of data (emails) that your team is migrating to Office 365, a typical migration engagement lasts 3-4 weeks (10-25 employees).
Can I change my Office 365 subscription as my business needs change?
Yes! Prophet Business Group can help your team select the Office 365 subscription plan that best fits your needs. If those needs change at any time, subscriptions can be reassigned, cancelled, upgraded, or downgraded. For example, a Business Essentials (cloud services-only subscription) can be upgraded to Business Premium (cloud services + desktop Office apps) should a user require new functionality or age-out previous investments in non-subscription Office Standard/Professional.
Can I add or remove Office 365 subscriptions as our company headcount changes?
Yes! Prophet Business Group can help you adjust subscription quantities higher, or lower, based on your changing headcount. We recommend monthly subscription products, eliminating the hassle and potential costs of making a long-term commitment.
Can I combine Office 365 with other Microsoft product subscriptions from Prophet Business Group?
Yes, Prophet customers can combine their Office 365 subscriptions with plans and add-ons from Azure and Dynamics 365, as well as individual app subscriptions like Project and Visio Online.
Where is my company’s Office 365 data stored?
Microsoft Office 365 helps you comply with data residency requirements and industry-specific regulations. Typically, any new Office 365 customers with an operating address in Canada, will default to Canadian Data Centre geography, meaning your data-at-rest remains on Canadian soil. We don’t all use Windows PCs at my company, can we still use Office 365?
Yes. The applications and services available through Office 365 are available on a variety of platforms, device form-factors, and operating systems. Rest assured that Microsoft has ensure access to your company data and app in Office 365 is available, regardless of how you access it. Windows, Mac OS, iOS, iPad OS, and Android are all commonly supported. Work with Prophet Business Group to ensure your users subscriptions are properly provisioned for different devices.
How can I train my employees to use Office 365 more effectively?
Most desktop applications that are part of Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) remain built on a familiar interface.
