Microsoft Office 365
The latter part of 2012 was an exciting year of product releases for Microsoft – Windows 8, Surface, and Windows Phone 8. With the release of the new Microsoft Office, it’s showing the business world that 2013 offers awesome software.
Microsoft developed Windows 8 to create a consistent look and feel among its products and Office gets the same treatment. It’s making great strides in improving the user experience. An excellent example of this is its incorporation of social media into the new Office (a natural fit considering it’s completely integrated with the cloud).
The cloud now plays a fundamental role; SkyDrive is now the default save location and not the ubiquitous “C”drive. This makes files highly accessible and very easy to share by simple virtue of an Internet connection. With the ever-increasing mobility of people’s work and lifestyle, and our need for easy information access, Microsoft is betting this trend will progressively grow.
Here’s a quick sampling of some new Office features:
- Touch mode that widens the space between onscreen objects
- Edit PDF files in Word
- Easy YouTube video integration into Word documents
- Timeline feature in Excel that filters data by time period
- Facebook updates in Outlook
- Presenter view in PowerPoint that enables you to see notes
Microsoft is offering a free update to Office to Windows users who have purchased Office 2010 and Mac users who have purchased Office 2011. This offer is limited to customers purchasing their editions between October 19, 2012 and April 30, 2013.
