Java Security Warning
Prophet Business Group has received a number of calls from concerned customers regarding websites that display the Java warning window shown at left.
With the recent spate of security issues plaguing Java, Prophet understands the concern. The window has proved to be difficult to remove in some user cases. To help navigate this issue, our Network Support team offers the following advice.
If you come across this pop-up window, here’s what you can do:
Step 1. Verify the URL you are trying to visit is the same as what’s displayed in the blue-circled area (shown above)
Step 2. If the URL matches, click the checkbox* that is shown in the red-circled area (shown above)
Step 3. If the URL does not match the site you are trying to visit, click Cancel
Note: You may need to click the checkbox multiple times per website. Multiple Java archive files may be attempting to download or execute.
The pop-up window is part of a new security feature in Java’s software to help prevent Internet fraud.
Prophet Business Group takes Internet security very seriously and offers a variety of solutions that help protect your network from malware. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the instructions above, or would like to discuss an overall approach to network security, please contact our Network Support team in Winnipeg at 204-982-9890.
